Esme Emerson announce new EP ‘Applesauce’ and debut UK headline tour

British-Chinese sibling duo Esme Emerson has confirmed the release of their highly anticipated new EP, Applesauce. Set for release on 7 March via Communion Records, the four-track collection promises to showcase a new layer of the duo’s sound, blending their trademark introspection with an adventurous production approach. The announcement comes alongside their latest single, “Together,” accompanied by a visually striking video that captures the track’s emotive core.

The EP follows on from their critically lauded Big Leap, No Faith, Small Chancer, which earned the duo glowing reviews. With Applesauce, Esme Emerson explores themes of nostalgia, familial bonds, and emotional resilience, drawing inspiration from their childhood memories. The title itself holds a dual significance, representing both the literal applesauce made by their mother from the apples in their yard and the concept of “nonsense,” a nod to the EP’s playful and reflective spirit.

Speaking about the release Esme shared:

“There are two apple trees in our front yard. Every summer, the apples fall, roll down the hill, and rot over autumn. This year, however, our mum picked them and made applesauce. Nostalgia is really important in our songwriting—it probably comes from being siblings. Making music often feels like looking back on our lives together.”

“Together,” the lead single from Applesauce, is a poignant reflection on vulnerability and connection. Esme describes it as “inviting someone to know you, to be in your space, to understand your sadness and share the weight with you.” Balancing tender lyricism with a gentle yet striking production, the track resonates deeply with the listener, embodying a cathartic acceptance of life’s imperfections.

The release of Applesauce will be accompanied by the duo’s first UK headline tour in April 2025, with stops in Glasgow, Manchester, London, and Ipswich. Having spent 2024 supporting acts like The Japanese House and Good Neighbours and performing to sold-out crowds in London, Esme Emerson are poised to make 2025 a landmark year in their musical journey.
