jasmine.4.t shares title track from debut album ‘You Are The Morning’ and announces European tour
Manchester-based singer-songwriter jasmine.4.t has shared the title track from her highly anticipated debut album You Are The Morning, set for release on 17 January 2025 via Saddest Factory Records. As the first UK artist signed to Phoebe Bridgers’ imprint, Jasmine has been making waves with her unique storytelling and reflective songwriting, and this latest single highlights the heart and sentiment at the core of her upcoming record.
On You Are The Morning, Jasmine’s delicate fingerpicked guitar is beautifully paired with ethereal strings, creating a sound both intimate and spacious. Lyrically, the track celebrates the power of queer friendship and its ability to bring healing and strength in turbulent times. Jasmine’s vocal delivery carries a quiet resolve, capturing the transformative experience of feeling seen and accepted.
In Jasmine’s words:
"This song is about the healing found in queer friendship. It is about queer people’s resilience in the face of violence. It is about our potential to bring about change within ourselves, those around us, and the world at large."
You Are The Morning was written during a period of personal upheaval for Jasmine, including the challenges of coming out as trans, navigating homelessness, and rebuilding her life with the support of close friends. She channels these experiences into her music, transforming them into moments of connection and catharsis.
Jasmine’s debut album reflects her journey, interwoven with themes of community, chosen family, and trans joy. Tracks such as “Skin on Skin” and “Elephant” explore love, healing, and self-discovery, while “Woman” closes the record with a powerful affirmation of identity, backed by the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. The record’s production team features collaborators like Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, who bring a sense of spontaneity and collective spirit to the album’s creation.
Recorded over 12 days at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, the album’s raw, collaborative process mirrors its themes of friendship and mutual support. Jasmine’s all-trans band – Phoenix Rousiamanis (piano/strings), Eden O’Brien (drums), and Emily Abbott (bass) – played an integral role in shaping the sound, while her community’s voices appear on tracks like “Best Friend’s House”, which features a chorus of collaborators and friends.
