zzzahara shares new single and video "It Didn’t Mean Nothing"
Los Angeles-based artist zzzahara has unveiled their latest single, "It Didn’t Mean Nothing," taken from the upcoming album Spiral Your Way Out, set for release on 10 January via Lex Records. The new track follows earlier singles "If I Had To Go I Would Leave the Door Closed Half Way" and "Ghosts," further building anticipation for the record.
"It Didn’t Mean Nothing" sets the tone for the album with its mix of jangly guitar riffs, walking basslines, and raw lyrical honesty. It explores feelings of anger and emotional paralysis in the aftermath of a breakup. “I was so mad I couldn’t think / All I did was lay in bed and scream,” zzzahara delivers with a candid edge, capturing the essence of unresolved turmoil.
The track also marks the first collaboration between zzzahara and producer Jorge Elbrecht, known for his work with Japanese Breakfast and Sky Ferreira. Elbrecht’s contribution brings a jagged energy that pairs seamlessly with zzzahara’s instinctive songwriting style. Speaking about the session.
With zzzahara stating:
"Jorge had the drum pattern and guitar already prepared. I felt like I knew what I had to say when I started writing lyrics. I really held my problems in at the time so sitting there making music with Jorge felt like the escape I needed. We pulled that track together in just under four hours. It was magical. For the first time it felt like I met someone who worked as fast as I did."
The forthcoming Spiral Your Way Out finds zzzahara leaning into the chaos of life following a difficult breakup. The artist describes the album as a reflection of embracing their instinctive side and navigating experiences that feel both chaotic and liberating.
"My whole life, all I've known is destruction. Having a dysfunctional family, trying to figure out where I lie in this world... I feel like that’s the kind of life I lead. Very spirally, very chaotic. It’s one big fucking mystery," zzzahara explains, adding that they’ve learned to accept their own chaos rather than fight it. "Working on not giving a fuck has been my vibe recently. Like, I could spiral out of control, but that’s just who I am."
This new single offers a taste of the emotional intensity and sharp storytelling fans can expect on Spiral Your Way Out. With its jagged instrumentation and candid lyricism, "It Didn’t Mean Nothing" signals a bold step forward for zzzahara, blending vulnerability with sonic edge.
Spiral Your Way Out will be available on 10 January via Lex Records. The singles "It Didn’t Mean Nothing," "If I Had To Go I Would Leave the Door Closed Half Way," and "Ghosts" are out now to stream and watch.
