Coheed and Cambria announce new album ‘The Father of Make Believe’, share new single “Searching for Tomorrow”
Coheed and Cambria has revealed details about their upcoming album, The Father of Make Believe, set for release on 14 March 2025 via Virgin Music Group. This marks the band’s 10th studio album and the next chapter in their long-running Amory Wars narrative, following 2022’s Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind. Fans can also pre-order a limited edition deluxe box set packed with exclusive items, including a wearable helmet, an illustrated novella, and more.
The announcement is accompanied by the release of a new single, “Searching for Tomorrow,” paired with an animated video directed by Anthony Schepperd. According to vocalist and guitarist Claudio Sanchez, the song reflects on finding gratitude in the present moment. He explains:
"The song is a reminder that always looking for something better in your life robs you of being able to appreciate the good things you already have."
The band has also confirmed that the album will include the previously released track “Blind Side Sonny,” hailed as one of their most intense efforts yet, with a music video introducing a new antagonist in the Amory Wars universe.
The Father of Make Believe finds Sanchez taking on a deeply personal perspective, weaving his own experiences into the album’s story. While staying true to the ambitious sonic landscapes Coheed fans expect, this release sees the songwriter embracing themes like fatherhood, career reflections, and a layered emotional journey. From fiery guitar solos to expansive melodies, Sanchez’s voice remains the anchor, delivering performances both introspective and electrifying.
For devoted fans of Coheed’s sprawling world-building, the limited edition deluxe box set promises a treasure trove of collectibles. Highlights include Blind Side Sonny’s functional helmet and goggles, a coffee table-style novella expanding the Vaxis Act III lore, and a signed death certificate of a key narrative figure.
The band’s live schedule for 2025 adds to the excitement, kicking off with the Tool in the Sand festival in the Dominican Republic from 7-9 March. Later in the year, Coheed will headline the 2000 Trees Festival in Cheltenham on 11 July and embark on their S.S. Neverender cruise in November, featuring acts like Thursday, L.S. Dunes, and more.
For over two decades, Coheed and Cambria has challenged musical conventions, blending progressive rock, punk, and storytelling in a way that remains uniquely their own. With The Father of Make Believe, the band continues to push their creative limits while delivering what promises to be another gripping chapter in their celebrated discography.
