Special preview: The Lonely Surf premiere new single, “Happiness”

The Lonely Surf

Earlier this year, we shared an exclusive early preview from The Lonely Surf. Well, the south coast indie punks are at it again, sharing another exclusive early preview for their latest single, “Happiness”.

Officially out this Friday 15 December, “Happiness” follows on from the success of the band’s summer anthem “12 Months Out” released in August, this time adding a new dimension to their indie punk sound.

Recorded at The Ranch Production House in Southampton, the new track incorporates alt-rock elements, while still retaining the band's signature blend of honest lyricism and infectious melodies that make their sound special.

We have no doubt listeners will bop along to this contagious tune and dream of summer days ahead.

Speaking on the track, frontman Dom Wright said:

“Happiness is a song about moving on from relationships and reflecting on times when you could have done better. It’s also about the weird stages you go through after a relationship ends and losing sight of what gives you your sense of self.”

Citing influences of The Menzingers, The Wombats and Bruce Springsteen, we think The Lonely Surf will be a quick favourite for fans of The View, All-American Rejects and early The Maine.

With "Happiness," The Lonely Surf continues to solidify their position in the indie punk scene, offering a heartfelt and catchy anthem that resonates with their growing fanbase.

“Happiness” from The Lonely Surf is officially out this Friday 15 December via Disconnect Disconnect Records. Later this month, you can catch The Lonely Surf playing the Bear Cave in Bournemouth on 22 December, and early next year you can catch the group on tour with The Young Hearts in February:

  • 9 February 2024 – SOUTHAMPTON, Heartbreakers

  • 10 February 2024 – NEWPORT, Le Pub

  • 11 February 2024 – BRIGHTON, The Pipeline
