This week, The Scene heads to Fernhill Farm in Somerset for the annual ArcTanGent (AKA ATG) festival - the UK’s premier festival for math rock, post-rock, progressive metal, and experimental music.

This year the diverse lineup features the likes of The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, Converge, Sikth, and Conjurer. Here’s a little preview of what we’re looking forward to.

Wednesday

As has become increasingly common in the UK festival circuit, ATG has now expanded to a four-day offering with Wednesday serving as an appetiser for the main festival.

Ogives Big Band gets the party going at around 3 pm. Bristol-based techno-metal heavyweights SCALPING headline the day’s live music offering, bringing their incendiary live act to this year’s ATG.

Looking a the rest of the Wednesday line-up we recommend that you check out Bicurious, Skin Failure, and Conjurer. If you’re lucky enough to have a four-day ticket for this year’s ATG, prepare yourself for a banging Wednesday to get your festival off to a flying start.

Thursday

Thursday sees the festival proper kick off at ATG. Get up early and head over to the PX3 stage to catch the brilliant Grief Ritual. Another band early on the bill that should not be missed are Chinese Football over on the main Arc stage.

Our biggest debate here at The Scene is over who we should see in the 7-8 pm slot. When Russian Circles clash with Other Half. Forced to choose between the two I would go with Other Half over on PX3.

Looking at the rest of the day’s line up you should catch The Guru Guru, Brutus, YourCodeNameIs:Milo, and PX3 headliners the chaotic Sugar Horse.

Friday

Friday is another jam-packed day at ATG. We recommend you catch Curse These Metal Hands (the collaborative project of Conjurer and Pijn) over on the Arc stage. Then head over to Yohkai for ‘68 before heading back to Arc for Holy Fawn.

A band you do not want to miss are Northern Irish instrumental rock band And So I Watch You From Afar. Who occupies the early evening slot on the main Arc stage.

Catch the brilliant Elephant In The Bar Room headliners CLT DRP, before making your way back across to the Arc stage for Heilung. The experimental folk band should cap off an epic day.

Saturday

ATG has kept its best till last with a killer Saturday lineup. Start your day over a PX3 with Bristol post punx Naut. The next on our not to be missed list are Cultdreams. The queer shoegaze band where a last-minute addition to the lineup and we are super excited to see them Elephant In The Bar Room at ATG.

The evening on Saturday features some of the bands that we are most excited about at the whole festival. Brighton-based duo fakeyourdeath are set to rip up the Elephant In the Baroom stage. Follow them with Mathcore legends Rolo Tomassi over on Arc then race over to Yohkai for emo icons The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. Before heading over to PX3 for the Norwegian duo Aiming For Enrike.

End your night by catching the post-hardcore veterans The Fall Of Troy over on Yohkai. Before closing your night out with the pure insanity that is the live performance of Tokky Horror as they close out Elephant In The Bar Room stage.
